§ 14-48. Insurance required of peddlers of candy, ice cream, etc., using motor vehicles; inspection of vehicles.

No license shall be issued under the provisions of this article to any peddler, hawker,
huckster or itinerant merchant utilizing a motor vehicle in the sale or offering for
sale of candy, soda, ice cream or other frozen confections until such peddler, hawker,
huckster or itinerant merchant has deposited with the city clerk evidence that he
has secured, paid for and has in effect a policy of public liability insurance with
a coverage of not less than $50,000.00 for injury to any one person and of not less
than $100,000.00 for injuries arising out of any one incident and until each such
motor vehicle operated by or on behalf of such peddler, hawker, huckster or itinerant
merchant has been inspected by a member of the police department and found to be in
good condition with all safety appliances operative.
