§ 18-5. Reservation of specific park areas.

  • A permit for the use of a specific park area may be obtained by applying to the department of parks and recreation in advance of the date for which the use of a specific area is sought. Persons issued a permit for the use of a specific park area shall have preference to the use of the specific area reserved upon the dates and during the times indicated on the permit.

    Permits for specific park areas for tournaments or organized league play shall also be obtained from the department of parks and recreation as set forth in the preceding paragraph. Tournaments for commercial purposes shall not be permitted without the expressed approval of the board of aldermen of the city. For the purposes of this paragraph, commercial purposes means for the personal or financial benefit of those conducting the tournament, as opposed to charitable or other eleemosynary purposes.

    The tennis courts at Vlasis Park may be reserved in accordance with a reservation policy to be developed by the department of parks and recreation. The fee to reserve a tennis court shall be $10.00 per court per hour. Payment of the reservation fee shall be due in full at the time of the application.
