§ 2-297. Fees for copying public records and payment of court costs by credit card.

  • The custodian of records shall charge a fee for researching and copying public records as follows:

    (1)

    Fees for copying public records shall be determined as set forth in section 2-294. Documents may be furnished without charge or at a reduced charge when the city administrator determines that waiver or reduction of the fee is in the public interest because it is likely to contribute to public understanding of the city's activities or operations or the requestor is not a commercial interest or is a resident of the city or is an organization engaged in civic, educational or charitable activities.

    (2)

    The fee for accepting payments of court costs by means other than by cash or negotiable instrument shall be $4.00, in addition to the costs themselves.

    (3)

    Payment for copying fees may be requested before the making of copies.

    (4)

    Residents and nonresidents of the city who request fingerprints or fingerprinting shall incur a fee of $15.00 per fingerprint set.

    (5)

    All moneys received from fees shall be deposited to the general governmental accounts of the city.
