§ 5-61. Running at large prohibited; exception.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to permit any dog, whether vaccinated or not, to run at large and to go off the premises of its owner, unless such dog is under restraint as defined in section 1-2.

    (b)

    The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply to bloodhounds or other dogs used for tracking in conjunction with police activities or to dogs of the canine corps of a police force of any municipality located in the county, of the county police department, of the St. Louis metropolitan police department, of the state highway patrol, of any federal law enforcement agency, or of any branch of the armed forces of the United States, while being used to conduct official business or while being used for official purposes.
