§ 16-25. Qualifications for office.

  • In addition to the requirements set forth in section 16-23 and the selection policy as determined by the board of aldermen, no person appointed to hold office shall serve as municipal court judge or provisional municipal court judge unless at the time of appointment such person shall be:

    (1)

    A citizen of the United States.

    (2)

    Over the age of 21 years and under the age of 70 years, unless such age restrictions are otherwise provided by supreme court rule or state statute.

    (3)

    A resident of the state for one year.

    (4)

    Licensed to practice law in the state.
