§ 16-26. Office of judge deemed vacant.

  • Should any person appointed as municipal judge during the term of office:

    (1)

    Reach his 70th birthday, except as provided in section 16-25(2).

    (2)

    Cease to be a citizen of the United States of America;

    (3)

    Cease to be a resident of the state;

    (4)

    Cease to be licensed to practice law in the state; or

    (5)

    Hold any other elective or appointive office of the city;

    the office shall be deemed vacant and such person shall not be permitted to serve as municipal judge, nor shall any compensation be paid to such person for serving as municipal judge.
