§ 2-125. Standing committees.

  • (a)

    In order that the business of the board of aldermen may be expeditiously transacted, the following standing committees are established for the board of aldermen:

    (1)

    Financial and administration;

    (2)

    Parks and recreation;

    (3)

    Public health and safety; and

    (4)

    Public works.

    (b)

    The mayor, without any concurrence or approval of the board of aldermen, shall appoint one alderman from each ward to serve on each aldermanic committee; provided, however, that no alderman shall serve on more than two committees at the same time. The mayor shall also appoint a chairman for each aldermanic committee, who shall be chosen from among the members of that committee.

    (c)

    Each alderman, and his successor, appointed to serve as chairman or as a member of an aldermanic committee shall serve on such committee at the discretion of the mayor.
